Emigrants

International personalities used Zurich as a place of refuge, sometimes on political grounds and sometimes for personal reasons. Here, one appeared to be protected, one could take a deep breath or regain one's health once more. Over time, many of these emigrants helped to give Zurich its reputation as a university, music and theatre city. We visit a number of locations significant to these important earlier visitors.
